Brno - We had our first real snow this morning. I've heard the Eskimos have many words for snow but my snow vocabulary is limited. Hey, I am an adopted Floridian after all! Our snow began with a light rain. By mid-morning the flakes were large and lazy, plummeting to the ground in clumps. As the air temperature warmed the snow abated.
I guess its official, winter will come. The trees across the street are completely bare. Seems like it happened overnight. Now it feels like winter because it looks like winter. We enjoy the initial days but by New Years (just ten days after the official beginning of winter) I am ready for spring.
I continue to work on two ministry projects: (1) a series of presentations on the sweep of redemptive history for biblically illiterate postmoderns, and (2) a position paper on spiritual formation for mentors and mentorees in the context of leadership development. The first project will be presented to university students, young congregations, and at various evangelistic events. The second will be a document that explains our approach to mentoring Czech and central/eastern European church planters.
In the first document I have chosen seven sets of contrasts to describe the sweep of redemptive history: (1) creation and redemption, (2) time and eternity, (3) crime and punishment, (4) promise and performance, (5) God and man, (6) law and grace, and (7) faith and repentance.
If you think about it then I would appreciate your prayers for preparing the individual presentations and combining them into a series that flows logically. Also, its not too early to pray for God to use these presentations/lectures in the lives of those who will hear them. Thanks for your cooperation in prayer!

Hi Don!
Great thoughts on the history of redemption and taking leaders to the next level of mentoring sounds awesome! My favorite writing by Jonathan Edwards is "Heaven is a World of Love" and then a close second is "A History of Redemption." Have you read it?
Also, I would be very interested in what you are writing for leaders and mentoring - if it is in English!
Thanks for your faithful ministry, and we are praying for you.
By the way, Dr. Kenneth Barker gave all the professors at Capital an NIV Study Bible. He was my adviser at seminary, and had a poster by his desk with a picture of King James that said, "To the world's second best translator. Your friend, King James."
He has such a good sense of humor!
Your friends,
Beau and Merna Abernathy
